Our Christmas

Welcome to 2012!  I hope everybody had a good time last night.  As for us, we were all sound asleep in the Haynes household well before midnight.  I know, we’re a bunch of party poopers.  🙂

I figured I would use this opportunity to share a few pictures from our Christmas celebrations, so I picked out a couple of pictures to post.

Here is a picture from Christmas morning, when L. opened up one of his gifts (a dress-up box).  Here he is, preparing to don a helmet and slay a dragon.  I guess.

After we opened up gifts at our house, we headed over to my parents’ place.  I like to round everybody up and get their picture, as a present for my mom.  We’re rarely all together in one place, and she likes to hang the pictures on her stairwell.  We have very different tastes:  she likes everything centered and posed, and her favorite color is blue.  Whereas, personally, I’m not a huge fan of centering, posing, OR blue.  But Christmas comes only once a year, so I put my artistic sensibilities to rest for the afternoon to give her something she’d like.

I should have known that my husband would not go quietly.  Well done, George!  🙂

DISCLAIMER:  THIS IS NOT INDICATIVE OF MY USUAL STYLE OF PHOTOGRAPHY.  THIS PICTURE IS FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES, ONLY.

Ahem.

After the dust settled and the gifts were opened, L. insisted on his usual Christmas tradition of bullying Grandpa and Grandma into reading a book to him.  He doesn’t have to try very hard.  Ah, the perks of being an only grandchild!

A few days later, we went to Indianapolis to visit my husband’s family. Much to L.’s delight, his aunt and uncle keep a cow in their back yard.

L. got to spend some quality time with his other grandma, MeeMee.

Hope your holiday was just as wonderful!
